MEET THE ARTIST: Mal Eakes

1. What inspires you about Bremerton?

A: What inspires me most about Bremerton is the incredible views that surround literally everything. No matter where you are you aren’t far from an incredible water and mountain landscape. I have always felt grounded being able to watch the waves for awhile.

2. What drew you to your medium?

A: I feel like I was missing something for a long time, I didn’t pick up painting till I turned 30. There’s just something super satisfying about smoothing a heavy body paint, or dumping out super fluid paint and just going where it takes you. I’m never super sure where I’m going to end up when I start.
