John Melicorn - Urban Plant Shop
Meet local artist and business owner John Melicor!
Q: What inspires you about Bremerton?
A: Bremerton inspires my sense of longing for community and connection with others who are passionate, supportive, and likeminded. I get a lot of inspiration from the historic pieces in Bremerton along with the views of waterscapes, trails, and amazing artists around me.
Q: What drew you to your medium?
A: The medium I tend to go towards is multimedia sculpting/constructing a mesh of collages and found objects. The idea that I can bring pieces together to pieces like ‘Natures Reflections’ a Mirror adorned with dried florals, preserved moss, and twigs.
Q: What is your favorite local spot?
A: My favorite local spot would be Illahee State Park due to its ranging elevation and a sense of the forest engulfing myself and ending at the sound where it reflects the forest behind me.
Q: Where do you find inspiration?
A: I find inspiration from my work at the @urbanplantshop and going on walks on trails.
Q: What does your perfect First Friday look like?
A: A perfect First Friday to me would be seeing members of our community walking away from local businesses that host artists with their work that they bought to support local artists. Seeing folks showing off others art work and even getting excited about finding a Heavy Jeens poster. That sight gives me joy to see that someone in the community enjoys their work
Q: Where can we find more of your art?
A: Generally you can find my pieces at Urban Plant Shop but would love to venture out more and collaborate with others.
